The wine has a lovely, dark red colour, almost black, just shading to ruby at the rim. The nose, full and complex, opens on varied notes of humus, cherry preserve, leather, cocoa and blackcurrant liqueur, while the nicely balanced attack displays well-rounded tannins, forward but not overpowering. A host of flavours coffee, smoke and spice, with a touch of pepper and cinnamon lend refinement to the palate. The finish is pleasant and moderately long, the expression of a very well-made wine for the vintage.
