Originally distilled from wine, probably for transportation purposes, Brandy was discovered to have an excellent characteristic of its own, derived from storing in wooden casks. Brandy now breaths an air of luxury as a fine after dinner drink, with matured brandies and Cognacs (brandy from the Cognac region of France) some of the most sought after drinks in the world.
