Edouard Langlois was a winemaker and cellar hand in St-Hilaire-St-Florent. In his early twenties he married and they founded the family company Maison Langlois-Chateau. World War 1 altered evertything as Edouard Langlois was killed in ation in 1915, so full responsibility for the business fell to his widow. In 1970 the Bollinger family invested in Langlois-Chateau adding to the vineyard holding in Saumur, Saumur-Chimpigny and Sancerre.
