Williams & Humberts Sherry

Alexander Williams started his wine career working as a clark for the Wisdom & Warter Sherry House. When he was told that he would never be taken into the partnership he decided to start up on his own. He married Amy Humbert, his father-in-law advanced him £1000 on the condition that Amy’s brother should become a partner when he came of age .This enabled this famous Sherry House to be founded in 1877 and subsequently rose to be in the first division of Sherry.
