Hamilton Russel Pinot Noir 14/17

A certain tightness and elevated length, balances the richness of this Pinot Noir. Not overtly fruity, soft and “sweet” showing hints of alluring savoury “primal” characters along with a dark, spicy, complex primary fruit perfumes.

Production details
This wine has been Barrel Matured for 10 months and has gone through 100% Malolactic fermentation in 45% 1st, 40% 2nd and 15% 3rd fill French oak barrels. In general 2014 was a challenging vintage, but the standout feature was the high level of physiological ripeness at much lower alcohols than usual - a highly desirable, but generally elusive situation for much of the Cape winelands. The wines have benefitted with a rich depth of character and lively tension, without the sweetness and weight of higher alcohol.
