Whyte and Mackay trace their roots back to 1844, Glasgow. And if time has taught them anything, it’s how to perfect their consistently smooth and rich tasting whisky.
The River Clyde is where their story started, an area better known for its shipbuilding. At that time, one in every five ships sailing the seas was built and launched there, so when James Whyte and Charles Mackay saw an opportunity to provide the hard-working residents of Glasgow with an alternative to Cognac, their superior blended whisky, Whyte & Mackay was launched.
As the population of Glasgow grew with immigration from the Highlands, Ireland and Europe, so did the popularity of Whyte & Mackay. That popularity lives on today, as does the pride and passion of the two founding fathers - James Whyte and Charles Mackay - in every glass of their whisky. The shipyards may have fallen silent, but the long legacy of strong communities of people working together and the proud heritage of craftsmanship shared by many have left their imprint on Glasgow.
The secret behind the award-winning taste of Whyte & Mackay is their triple maturation process and the way they blend to make sure no single whisky dominates another, creating a harmony of flavours that work together to produce their famous smoother, richer taste. The choose the finest aged single malts and aged grain whiskies from the Highlands and Speyside, then carefully age the malt whisky, whilst separately aging the grain whisky. The final chapter sees the marrying of these two different whiskies in sherry casks. This process produces a whisky rich in colour with golden highlights, round and full on the nose with smooth, rich flavours of honey and fruits.
A beautiful decanter, bottled in the 1980s, and well-matured blend in presentation box with a medallion displaying the name of the whisky and certificate of authenticity.
Our delivery charges are based on the number of bottles in your order, and each case can hold 12 x 75cl bottles as shown in the table below smaller and larger bottles are pro rata. We do not have a minimum order requirement.
Subject to stock availability and successful payment authorisation, we aim to despatch your order the next working day after you place your order. Our Standard Delivery is a next day service for most of the mainland UK from date of despatch, and The Highlands and Islands areas are on a 2-3 day service normally. As most orders are delivered via our chosen courier company, we cannot offer guaranteed delivery times, however the vast majority of orders placed arrive on the next working day. During busy periods these delivery times may extend. IF YOUR ORDER IS TIME CRITICAL PLEASE RING THE OFFICE TO GET MORE UP TO DATE INFORMATION ON CURRENT DELIVERY TIME SCALES, AND WE WILL DO OUR BEST TO MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS, BUT PLEASE NOTE WE ARE COURIER DEPENDENT ONCE THE ORDER LEAVES US, SO WE CANNOT ABSOLUTELY GUARANTEE A DELIVERY DATE.
We are able to hold your order if you would like to organise a day when you are going to be in, to do this just indicate it in the notes box provided in the delivery area of the order process. Please add any other specific delivery requirements in the same box and we will do our best to ensure they are followed, or alternatively call us on 01472 852118 and we will do our best to help you. Our chosen Couriers deliver Monday to Friday between 8.00 am & 6.00 pm.
Please note it is not possible to specify a timed delivery, without incurring additional delivery charges, if this something you require please contact us to discuss your requirements.
Please note that all our consignments normally REQUIRE A SIGNATURE on receipt. We will NOT be able to leave your order without someone taking the order in, we cannot leave your order unattended in a porch or garage etc., unless we get written confirmation from you that this is acceptable and that you will take full responsibilty if the parcel goes missing. However we are able to leave it with a neighbour or at an alternative address where they can take the goods in, please indicate this in the box for notes on the delivery page of the order process, if this is a requirement. If no-one answers the door, the address will be carded in the normal manner you should contact the courier or us to get the delivery rescheduled.
Orders under £30 in value will incur a small order £10 carriage charge to standard none surcharged UK delivery areas.
